To invest in the new vision and to assist in the website development the client organised a totally new photography and video portfolio which Granite sought to curate and use to their most effective in order to give site users the most immersive and enticing experience possible. This included large video banners spanning across the entirety of the screen and full page images which took up the full vertical space giving increased prominence and weight to all of the various unique moments captured.
The design team , knowing the public’s and target audience’s familiarity and comfort with social media, sought to replicate many of the conventions in the UI and UX being icon led and very light to ensure as little user strain as possible. It was incredibly important that the users could orient themselves and navigate the site scrolling freely so as not to remove them from this intended easy, flow-like and immersive experience that they would also experience should they visit the hotel. There is a notable lightness to the menu and a great reduction in the usage of copy to allow the user to feel, not think.
The logo of the Montenotte hotel is a Jackalope, a fictional creature of wonder and totally unique. This was the standard that was set before Granite, it was vital that we showed the various special offerings the hotel has such as their cinema, nest like tree-house longer stay dwellings , stunning outdoor dining area and wellness centre.
Apart from being incredibly unique as previously mentioned the hotel is exceptionally elegant and premium, this was sorely lacking in the previous site. Granite researched and tested a number of different colourways to find the right combination which contained the right emotional factors that the company sought to display. The dark tones paired with the soft bronzes delivered on this point and helped to further elevant the video and photography supplied being refined and tasteful. The result is a best in class hotel site which is incredibly refined and immersive acting as a promise of what is to come should the user book a stay.
